Job Title: Assistant Swim Coach

Organization: Calgary Dolphins Swim Club

Location: Calgary, AB

Schedule: Mondays & Thursdays (6:00-8:00 PM), Saturdays (8:30-10:30 AM)

Start Date: September 2025

About Us:

The Calgary Dolphins Swim Club is an inclusive and dynamic swim club that provides

quality swim instruction and training for children, youth, and adults with Down

syndrome. We focus on developing swimmers across a range of skill levels--from

beginner to competitive--through a fun, structured, and supportive environment.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate, reliable, and collaborative Assistant Swim Coach to join

our coaching team. Working under the guidance of the Head Coach, the Assistant

Coach helps deliver engaging practices, supports skill development across all four

strokes, and contributes to a safe and encouraging environment for all athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist the Head Coach during practices, swim meets, and team events.

- Support swimmers in both learn-to-swim and advanced training lanes, helping

with technique, endurance, and skills development.

- Lead warm-ups and small group instruction as assigned.

- Supervise swimmers before and after sessions, including in the change rooms

and on deck.

- Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, fellow coaches, and team

volunteers.

- Monitor swimmer safety at all times and be aware of individual medical or

behavioral needs.

- Complete and submit coaching timesheets monthly.

Qualifications:

- Completion of the NCCP Level 1 (Swimming) certification or I Can Swim Teacher

Training Course or enrollment in an upcoming course.

- Previous coaching, instructing, or athletic experience, ideally with individuals with

disabilities.

- Current Police Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check) prior to start.

- Positive, supportive attitude and strong communication skills.

- Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to the needs of individual swimmers.
