We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Supervisor to join our retail management team. The Assistant RECE Supervisor supports the daily operations of the Montessori childcare center to ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children. Working in collaboration with the Supervisor, the Assistant RECE Supervisor provides leadership to staff, supports curriculum implementation, maintains licensing and quality standards, and fosters a Montessori environment that encourages independence, respect, and a lifelong love of learning.
Duties
Leadership & Supervision
Assist the Supervisor in overseeing daily program operations, ensuring compliance with the
Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
, Public Health requirements, and Montessori philosophy.
Program & Curriculum
Collaborate with educators to plan, implement, and evaluate Montessori-based, child-centered learning experiences aligned with the

Ensure Montessori materials and environments are maintained, rotated, and presented in a way that supports independence, concentration, and exploration.
Model and promote Montessori principles of respect, observation, and freedom within limits.
Support program documentation and communication through tools such as
Transparent Classroom
or other digital platforms.
Family & Community Relations
Foster open, respectful, and consistent communication with families about their child's progress and experiences.
Support family engagement initiatives, meetings, and community events that align with the Montessori philosophy.
Administration & Compliance
Maintain accurate attendance, documentation, and reports in accordance with licensing and organizational policies.
Support the Supervisor in health and safety checks, policy implementation, and quality assurance measures.
Participate in inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to educators, promoting a collaborative and respectful Montessori learning community.
Act as Supervisor in their absence, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and effective communication with staff and families.
Support scheduling, classroom coverage, and staff ratio management.
Qualifications:
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)
in good standing with the
College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
.
Knowledge and understanding of Montessori philosophy and methods
(Montessori certification or training is a strong asset).
Minimum
2-3 years of experience
in a licensed childcare or Montessori environment, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of
CCEYA
