Overall Accountability
The Assistant Supervisor, Maintenance assists the Manager with building Automation Controls troubleshooting, software management/maintenance, planning, scheduling, inspection, and supervision relating to the maintenance of facilities, grounds and equipment.
Specific Accountabilities
Assists in the forecasting of annual work and preparation of annual budget
Expends funding to obtain services and/or products as required
Develops and monitors schedules and assigns/schedules maintenance work
Assists in the supervision and training of staff and/or contractors
Performs regular school visitations to determine required work and ensures work is completed
Assists in the interview of temporary employees for hiring
Assists in the monitoring of employee time and attendance reports
Coordinates work with school administrators, and ensures work is completed
Assists with fleet operations and maintenance
Helps coordinate the installation of creative playgrounds
Participates in the rotation of on-call duties
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) years college or technical/vocational education in a technical discipline or
Two (2) years college or technical/vocational education in horticulture, landscape architecture or the equivalent
Minimum five (5) years' experience, including experience in a supervisory role within a maintenance environment
Proficient in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Control systems
Extensive experience and strong working knowledge of Building Automation Software (Johnson's Controls, Siemens, or equivalent)
Journeyman certification in one or more of the building trades or equivalent experience including horticulture, grounds maintenance, etc.
Valid Alberta Driver's License and a vehicle in good operating condition
Knowledge of building, health, and safety codes; WHIMS, National Building Code, National Fire Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Alberta Elevator Act, Alberta Boilers Act, Electrical Code, City by-laws and Occupational Hygiene standards
Proficient in preventive and predictive maintenance management techniques
Comprehensive knowledge of construction trades and mechanical, heating and ventilation
equipment
Knowledge of contract administration and purchasing procedures
Proficient with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management software (Maximo)
Knowledge of hardware and keying systems
Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance
