Position Summary





As an

Assistant Superintendent

with Ventana Special Projects, you will closely support the Project Superintendent and Project Manager in the successful completion of your assigned projects. You will participate in overseeing job site safety, quality, project scheduling, and trade coordination. Reporting to the Project Superintendent, you will work towards managing your own projects independently by being immersed in the daily responsibilities of the Project Superintendent alongside the support and mentorship of our experienced superintendent team.




As an Assistant Superintendent your key accountabilities will involve:





Assisting the Superintendent in managing work on site to ensure the compliance of construction with the drawings and specifications. Supporting the Superintendent in planning and implementing schedules, conducting inspections, determining manpower levels and material and equipment quantities, and maintaining all other site requirements. Coordinating and communicating with trade partners regarding day-to-day site work. Monitoring work performance to ensure project rules, procedures, and safety requirements are being followed including managing daily reports and understanding drawings. Advising the Superintendent and Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties and assist in resolving these problems. Supporting client meetings and managing communication with project stakeholders. Promoting a strong safety culture on site and assisting with implementation of safety procedures. Participating in quality control including inspections, testing, and deficiency resolution. Maintaining and analyzing up-to-date cost reports and submit necessary changes to ensure the project is delivered within budget.

Strong trade relationships and a diverse portfolio of trade contractors.




As an Assistant Superintendent your experience and qualifications will include:





5+ years of experience in the general contracting industry. Trade background with leadership experience is an asset. Proven history of scheduling construction activities and consistently completing projects on time, on budget, and to the client's satisfaction. Post-secondary industry education in Construction, Safety, or equivalent in company training (Red Seal, Gold Seal, construction and/or safety-based formal education). Proficiency in construction scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Projects, Autodesk tools).
