Assistant Superintendent

The

Assistant Superintendent

will assist the superintendent to organize, administer and control project activities, under the direction and supervision of the General Superintendent or superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent will assist all field operations required to construct the project which includes overseeing all on-site construction activities, ensuring that project plans and schedules are followed, and that the project is executed effectively and within budget.

Here's What You'll be Responsible for:



Help create, maintain, and execute project plan and schedule and ensure compliance with budget.

Assist the superintendent in Supervising and coordinating all construction activities.

Work with all other staff assigned to a project.

Assist in the creation of site-specific plans and procedures;

Ensure the implementation of Westrade's Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite; adhere to safety and record-keeping requirements.

Ensure project materials and workmanship meets project quality standards and design requirements.

Assist with obtaining necessary information from engineers, designers, inspectors, government authorities and owners.

Advise the superintendent of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts; anticipate and resolve project issues and schedule difficulties.

Attend Sub-Trade meetings and update meetings for clear communication.

Maintain the project's Daily Job Diary; maintain a look ahead schedule.

Assist the management of projects, become acquainted with the project cycle and build project management skills.

Other duties as required.

What You'll Bring to the Team:



Good verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to diagnose, analyze and develop solutions to issues.

Ability to multitask and prioritize various tasks with conflicting deadlines and align them with the project schedules critical path.

Ability to lead and assess trade performance on the job through productivity tracking and clear communication. Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with consultants, trades, and internal employees.

Qualifications



Journeyman certificate or equivalent construction experience.

Minimum 2 years' progressive construction-related experience.

Knowledge of the construction industry operations, construction specifications, building materials, methods and procedures.

Coordinate scopes of a construction project, track productivities and schedule work in an effective manner.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, outlook etc.)

In depth understanding of safety and environmental principles, ability to develop procedures with a clear understanding of the legislation.

Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation.

Government of Canada reliability clearance or ability to obtain it.

Valid Driver's license
