Avon Valley Golf & Country Club is currently seeking an assistant with a professional outlook to assist with the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our golf club. The assistant reports directly to the golf course Superintendent and will be under his supervision.
Responsibilities:
Help organize and direct the daily activities of the golf maintenance staff.
Responsible for supervision and follow-up of the crew assignments.
Mentor and help develop staff in all areas. This includes equipment operation, irrigation maintenance and operation, spraying techniques and safety orientation and training.
Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Perform pesticide and fertilizer applications as required throughout the property and maintain accurate records of all applications and calibrations.
Ensure that employees adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Ensure employees operate tools and equipment safely, following all safe operating procedures in place.
Works with the Superintendent regarding disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures.
Provide employee training, ensuring that all applicable compliance requirements are met.
Qualifications Required:
? Professional commitment to excellence.
? Completion of two years post secondary turfgrass education or equivalent knowledge and experience.
? At least two years experience with the applications and handling of pesticides and/or foliar fertilizers and amendments
? Experience and knowledge in all aspects of golf course maintenance.
? Working knowledge of any applicable legislation / regulations including the Occupational Health & Safety Act
? Calibrate various types of sprayers and keep accurate application records.
? Ability to teach and lead a variety of staff.
? Perform the physical requirements of the job and work variable work schedules.
? Valid Nova Scotia Drivers License
? Valid Nova Scotia Pesticide Applicators License
