• 3rd Class Power Engineering Certification, working towards a 2nd Class would be an asset
• Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) training
• Forklift driver and propane filling certification
• Experience in design, operation, and maintenance of Steamplant equipment
• High degree of initiative, ingenuity, and judgment

Compensation:

• Base payrate of $48.66/hour
• Extended Health Benefits (after first 40 days)

The Assistant Shift Engineer performs duties in either the Steam Plant of the Field as assigned.

• Responsible for the retrieval, tabulation, calculation, and distribution of the daily energy consumption data for all user departments. This requires skills in P/C systems and operation
• Assist with establishing and monitoring of the following mill-wide programs: Yankee Dryer Management System (YDMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), Asbestos, Spill Response, Metro Vancouver stack emissions, hood operation, safety interlock, safety valve, pressure vessel, and steam traps
• Maintain close communication with the Shift Engineer at all times. Communicate pertinent information to the Shift Engineer and production departments as required
• Follow the correct procurement, safety, and environmental procedures in preparing equipment for operation or maintenance
• Perform maintenance on Utilities on a shift basis or as directed by the Shift Engineer and Steamplant Management
• Operate the gas-fired boilers to suit the varying mill steam loads, while assuring that maximum efficiency in steam generation and distribution is maintained through proper production and regulation
• Carry out routine inspections, start-ups, and shutdowns of Steamplant and field equipment
• Assist the Production Departments in the operation and troubleshooting of paper machine drying equipment

Job Requirements:
