Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager - Sample Reception, the Assistant - Sample Reception is responsible for performing various tasks to support the activities of sample and reagent reception, along with storage, shipment, and disposal.

Responsibilities

  • Receives packages, verifies integrity, and completes paper and electronic documentation and trackers relative to the package reception;
  • Organizes packages by order of priorities;
  • Manages the inbox for requests to Reception team;
  • Performs the inventory, labelling and other related activities to release reagents for laboratory usage;
  • Prepares the shipments of samples and study reagents (from ambient to cryogenic dry shippers) to send to clinical sites and/or Sponsors;
  • Prepares the disposal of samples and study reagents (from ambient to cryogenic dry shippers);
  • Performs inventories of reagents;
  • Performs labeling verification following sample inventories;
  • Helps to manage storage space for the various storage temperatures (from ambient to cryogenic);
  • Responsible to keep the working area clean, empty recycling material, etc.
  • Maintains documentation relevant to the tasks at hand as per appropriate SOP and applicable GLP regulations and GCLP guidelines;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • DES or DEC in life sciences, or related fields.
Main Requirements
  • No particular experience is required. Laboratory work/study experience is an asset.
  • Attention to details and commitment to achieve good quality work;
  • Organized and rigorous in the conduct of their work;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team;
  • Positive and professional attitude;
  • Problem solving skills and good sense of initiative;
  • Excellent record keeping;
  • Knowledge and understanding of French, oral and written, and of English sufficient to carry out procedures and protocols;
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office suite;
  • Experience in working in a GLP/GCLP environment, an asset;
  • Knowledge of procedures and protocols for containment of biohazardous material, an asset; ability to understand safety procedures and guidelines;
  • Knowledge of IATA regulations and experienced with a LIMS are assets.
Schedule
  • Part-time (15h-20h/week), contract work until the end of August, flexible hours, and there is a possibility of working more hours during the summer months.
