We are seeking an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager specializing in kitchen operations, menu development and food quality control. This position is part of the restaurant management team and is responsible for supervising and coordinating all back-of-house operations. The role focuses on maintaining consistent food quality, supporting menu innovation, managing kitchen staff and controlling inventory and food costs. This is a management role and does not perform daily cooking duties.
Main Duties
Plan, organize and direct kitchen operations to ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation standards and internal procedures.
Oversee menu development activities, including new dish testing, recipe standardization and quality control to maintain consistent taste and presentation.
Recruit, train and supervise kitchen staff; assign duties, prepare work schedules and monitor performance.
Control food inventory, monitor ingredient usage, manage stock rotation and implement waste-reduction measures.
Negotiate with suppliers and coordinate the purchasing of food ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Monitor food cost and kitchen operating expenses and implement cost-control measures.
Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and arrange repairs when required.
Collaborate with the restaurant management team on menu planning, budgeting and kitchen process improvements.
Employment Requirements
Minimum 3 years of restaurant management experience, including experience supervising kitchen teams.
Minimum 5 years of experience in culinary production, menu development or kitchen operations.
Strong understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation standards and kitchen workflow.
Proven ability to train, supervise and manage kitchen staff.
Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
