The Assistant Deli Restaurant Manager at Dave's Genuine Deli supports the overall management and smooth daily operation of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional food quality, service excellence, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will oversee both front and back-of-house staff, maintaining a positive, team-oriented environment that reflects the deli's commitment to authentic taste, premium ingredients, and genuine hospitality.
Working closely with the Owner, Dave Isen, the role involves supervising daily operations, coordinating food preparation and service standards, managing inventory and supplier relations, scheduling staff, overseeing cash handling, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The Assistant Deli Restaurant Manager also plays a key leadership role in training team members, enhancing customer experience, and upholding the traditional deli values that define Dave's Genuine Deli.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead, plan, oversee, and manage the restaurant's daily operations and staff, ensuring efficient service and high quality food preparation for in-house dining and catering;
Implement new policies and improve existing operational procedures to support the smooth operations of the restaurant;
Create weekly staff schedules and assign duties and tasks to employees according to staffing needs;
Assist with recruiting and directly training new employees, monitor staff efficiency to provide performance feedback and reports to Owner;
Coordinate catering orders, services and logistics, including order coordination, packaging, and delivery to clients and events;
Manage inventory and place orders with suppliers for restaurant inventory, including ingredients, packaging, and other supplies as required;
Oversee daily cash handling, sales reconciliation, and assist with maintaining financial reporting for the restaurant expenses, budgets, and revenues to ensure accuracy and cost efficiency;
Ensure that health and safety regulations are always adhered to according to internal policies plus standards;
Resolve customer complaints and ensure consistent and high-quality customer service; and
Other duties as required.
Minimum Skills Requirements:
Completion of secondary school is required;
Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma for a program in hospitality, food and beverage service management, or a related field will be considered an asset but is not required;
At least three (3) years of hands-on experience in the food service or restaurant industry is required;
Prior supervisory or managerial experience in the food service or restaurant industry is required;
Must have strong interpersonal, problem solving, communication and leadership skills.
