The salary range is different for a LPN and a RN:


The LPN salary range is $70,000 - $80,000 annually.


The RN salary range is $90,000 - $100,000 annually.

About the Role


In the absence of the RCM, the ARCM ensures the implementation, adherence and compliance with all required clinical policies, practices, procedures, legislation and standards of resident care, ensures adequate staffing levels, and supports a continuous quality improvement environment.


The ARCM liaises with the interdisciplinary team for identification, coordination and efficient utilization of resources on a daily basis as well as supports planning and delivery of staff educational needs.

In collaboration with the Health Authority facilitates the smooth and successful admission, discharge and resident transfer processes within the community. Follows Collaborative Practice Guidelines for resident care via active leadership and/or participation in a combination of resident (and family) interfaces, including - Assessments, care planning, care conferences, concerns resolution and resident committees. Facilitates resident care needs through the efficient allocation and use of resources, ensures adequate and appropriate staffing levels are maintained. Participates in ensuring the delivery of clinical education and/or training both in scheduled and/or bedside settings, to allow for increased learning and clinical skill development. Liaises with physicians, pharmacy, community agency representatives, families, visitors and volunteers Reviews all incident reports for proper completion, investigates, and completes trends as necessary. Reports critical / unusual incidents and new incident trends to the Resident Care Manager. Meets with staff at regular intervals and encourages their participation in assessment, planning and evaluation of resident care and other activities to fulfill department goals. Coaches and mentors staff to meet performance expectations and assists with the performance management and performance appraisal processes. Maintains a safe environment for residents, family and staff, through:

o accident prevention.


o knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations.


o the safe use of supplies and equipment and reporting when repairs are necessary, and


o utilizing infection control procedures.

Coordinates and supervises care staff; directs their work and assigns duties as necessary to ensure resident focused care is provided and resident rights are observed. Knowledgeable of Health Authority Managed Risk Agreement policy and collaborates with team to ensure clinical risk management procedures are followed. On-Call duties as required on a rotational basis. Monitors adherence to all applicable legislation and regulations as they relate directly to the provision of resident care. Supports and participates in Quality improvement processes. Assists with staff scheduling as required. Completes all mandatory audits as required. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

Graduate of an approved program for Nursing and holds a current license with The College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification and CPR. Leadership and Continuing Care experience. Two (2) or more years work experience in geriatrics and continuing care including dementia or a suitable combination of education and experience. Conflict resolution skills. Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions. Demonstrated leadership skills, initiative, sound judgment, as well as the ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Intermediate computer skills including the ability to navigate basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and experience with electronic health records an asset. Ability to squat, bend, stand, walk and lift up to 30 lbs. or as required to perform the duties of the position.
