Your opportunity:
The Assistant Registrar, Communications is a critical member of the team and supports the ongoing development and maintenance of office systems and procedures in the Registrar's Office. Along with the Associate Registrar, the Assistant Registrar, Communications provides ongoing guidance to staff who provide front-line student services. The incumbent will also provide a welcoming environment in the College for undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds.

As a member of the New College Registrar's Office, the Assistant Registrar, Communications will be committed to an equity that recognizes, supports, and responds to the diverse histories, lived and marginalized experiences of international students and many communities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing a communications plan to keep stakeholders informed
  • Writing and editing copy and content to advance communications objectives
  • Advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
  • Liaising with others to coordinate logistical modifications to service delivery
  • Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services
  • Developing a strategy to guide how student inquiries are managed and oversees the Registrar's email account
  • Developing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks to address current and future student common questions
  • Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years' of recent and related experience with student academic advising, and experience with administrative procedures in a university setting, preferably in a college registrar's office.
  • Experience working with Faculty of Arts and Science curriculum offerings and regulations
  • Experience working with and supporting undergraduate students.
  • Experience interpreting, applying and advising on rules, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Experience and sound knowledge of best practices in advising and student services.
  • Experience workingwith and advising international students and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated strong student service orientation and experience fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in a post-secondary environment.
  • Advanced skills withMicrosoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Advanced skills with ROSI/ACORN, Degree Explorer, or other similar enterprise database solutions/CRM systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and organize work, and meet tight deadlines while paying attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to provide effective guidance and advice to students in a responsive, empathetic, thoughtful, and discreet manner.
  • Knowledge and understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

USW Pay Band 12 -- $71,842 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $91,875. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
