Role Summary

Reporting to the Recreation and Leisure Manager, this high-energy leader has proven excellence in service delivery and will effectively assist in leading the Recreation and Leisure department including the fitness area, recreation activities, and aquatics. This role is responsible for achieving a seamless member and guest experience through the creation and execution of a comprehensive strategy, resort wide.



Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of all recreation programming including recreation activities, rentals, aquatic, waterfront, pool and fitness center Assist in leading a team of colleagues, providing direction at the start and end of shift briefings Ensure that department goals and service standards are communicated, understood, and met by colleagues Assist in preparing work schedules and processing payroll, ensuring accuracy Assist with the training, coaching and developing of all recreation team members Provide feedback for staff performance management and coach and counsel team members as needed Accountable for tracking recreation statistics and assist with resort activity revenues along with expenses and productivity Ensure promotion of recreation activities throughout resort and update resort website with current recreation offerings and information Evaluate the effectiveness of recreational programs, activities and events, as well as other facility services and recommend improvements to programming Provide information to guests about recreation facilities and activities, lessons and equipment Promote a fun and relaxing atmosphere for guests in all recreational activities and areas by expressing an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude Promote and enforce rules and regulations of the recreation facilities intended for the health and safety of guests including use of waivers Assist in the creation of all Recreation and Leisure programming including aquatics, waterfront/beach, pools, fitness center, and member and guest activity activations Together with the Recreation and Leisure Manager develop and execute ideas and procedures to continuously improve department performance Collaborate and coordinate with Resort Services team to ensure a diverse range of experiences for guests, and smooth execution of events Assist the Recreation and Leisure Manager to set up contracts with third party service providers to provide additional recreation facilities, services and experiences Ensure all guest and member and requests are addressed and handled professionally Research and communicate community and area resources for additional recreation activities not available on resort property Review industry trends for new and innovative product and service opportunities Serve as an individual contributor and department role model by performing technical or functional job duties such as facilitating an activity, registering guests or cleaning pool area Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required Other duties as assigned

Requirements

3 years' experience in a similar role within the hospitality or resort industry Degree or Diploma in recreation and leisure, hospitality or travel and tourism Previous leadership experience in recreation and leisure Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification Current National Lifeguard Service certification preferred SmartServe certification Certified Pool Operator certification an asset Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook Must possess excellent customer service skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Must be extremely responsible with integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Working Conditions

Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance Stand, sit or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces Significant exposure to varying weather conditions
