Assistant Project Manager

to join this team.

This position will have primary responsibility to support the Project Manager in the oversight, planning, monitoring and management of new construction, existing unit remodeling and major maintenance projects.

Responsibilities

Administration and control of construction projects and the oversight of general contractors and consultants, coordinating all site/project activity Conducting periodic site inspections and oversee/monitor construction/repairs Preparing and issuing purchase orders and contract documents and approving contract invoices Review plans and drawings prepared and identifying errors and omissions Manage tendering and selection of general contractors Compare final tender prices and support the Project Manager negotiations with the contractors and suppliers Liaise with internal and external suppliers for timely delivery of materials and fixtures Conduct final inspections, recording deficiencies, establishing time frames for correction and conduction follow up inspections Obtaining all appropriate approvals and building permits Write reports for Architect, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Sign off on projects keeping an organized record of project documents Same day travel and occasional overnight required Developing construction project scheduling and budgets for the Construction and Maintenance Department.

Requirements:

Advanced organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project) Experience on commercial construction Experience in negotiating with contractors and suppliers Engineering or Architecture Bachelor Degree considered an asset Building Code knowledge considered an asset Project management background Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems Work mostly from the Head Office with occasional site visits and work from home acceptable upon agreement with supervisor PMP Certificate is considered an asset
