Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 13 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company's continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will contribute and support the planning and execution of projects. The assistant project manager's responsibilities include monitoring project progress, following up with stakeholders on the completion or delay of project phases, scheduling meetings, and maintaining project documents and reports. The position will engage with all levels in the organization and should be able to maintain oversight of all project activities, identify any issues, and ensure these are resolved promptly. This role requires individuals to oversee project goals, create and deliver reports, analyze data from project execution, and any other duties as determined by project managers.
Major Responsibilities: Strategic Planning
Provide planning expertise and leadership to business operations, development of program/project strategies, plans and tactics, identifying and recommending action on planning and project risks and opportunities, based on analysis of data, trends, and issues
Collaborate with managers and executives across the organization, with a view to delivering results, optimizing the project outcomes
Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders to understand needs, keep them informed and resolve moderate issues
Project Management
Responsible for all aspects of the delivery of multiple projects, including managing the scope, budget, resources, timeline, gaps/variances and changes of each project
Provide project team leadership to various project committees, guide them to achieve deliverables in accordance to the given schedule, budget and scope
Negotiate changes and / or trade-offs to project scope or delivery dates based on evolving project needs
Liaise with related government officials, consultants, suppliers, and sub-contractors
Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates
Document and explain implications of changes to management to ensure changes are understood and approved
Tracking and reporting project progress
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
5 years of experience in project management or a similar role, in a fast paced business environment, preferably in the retail industry, or supermarket chain store operations
Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations that require sound decision making and may involve confidential or sensitive matters
Have excellent interpersonal, organizational, relationship-building, and negotiation skills and be able to deal effectively with all levels within and outside the organization
Strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills; must be fluent in English and is able to understand, speak and read Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin), ability to type Chinese will be an asset
Proficient in Microsoft office programs and ability to operate Auto CAD design software are required
Possess a valid driver's license
