What does this role look like?

The CBE understands the future of work is flexible. In this role, you are eligible to participate in a flexible work program that allows you to work remotely for up to three days a week. A minimum of two days must be in the office. At certain times, you maybe be required to work in the office more then 2 days per week based on operational requirements.


Position Description

Purpose


Under the close guidance of the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager supports the delivery of Capital Construction and/or Maintenance & Renewal (M&R) projects across the CBE. This job assists in managing the full project lifecycle, including design reviews, documentation development, contract administration, construction oversight, stakeholder engagement, financial tracking, and quality assurance. This is a developmental role that delivers low complexity projects and supports the delivery of medium to high complexity projects under the guidance of more senior project staff.


Accountability


Supporting the project delivery team under the direction of Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.


The timely and effective delivery of assigned low complexity M&R projects.


Completion of project specific tasks as assigned by the lead Project Manager such as drafting solicitation documents, updating financial records, overseeing small scope consultant studies, supporting larger project deliverable, vendor/solution research etc.


Meeting the objectives of assigned tasks in terms of cost, quality, quantity, and time of completion.



Major responsibilities


Assist in managing M&R and/or capital construction projects across CBE buildings, covering architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and building envelope systems.


Support project planning, coordination, and execution by contributing to design reviews, procurement, documentation, and construction oversight.


Conduct or assist with site investigations, field reviews, and condition assessments to inf orm scope, design, and budgeting.


Coordinate and track project schedules and resource planning, includingmaintaining the overall project schedule.


Maintain accurate financial records, track expenditures, and assist with financial closeout processes to ensure compliance with f unding and CBE standards.


Enter and update project data in Archibus; assist with M&R claims and VFA reporting for Alberta Infrastructure as required.


Prepare and issue Requests f or Proposals (RFPs).


Maintain project records.


Facilitate stakeholder engagement through ongoing communication with user groups, consultants, contractors, and service providers to ensure end-user requirements are met.


Monitor assigned project perf ormance against schedule, budget, and quality targets; recommend corrective actions as needed.



Manage documentation control and coordinate transf er of operational/maintenance documentation at project closeout.


Participate in team meetings, contribute to project reporting, and perform additional duties as assigned to support project success.


Qualifications


Education and Experience


Completion of a Bachelor degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Project Management or related field f rom an accredited institution; or


A Diploma in Architectural or Engineering Technology or Construction Project Management.


Current membership and in good standing in the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA) or The Association of Science & Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) or equivalent.


Minimum 2 construction related environment (PMO, consulting firm, general contractor etc.).


Familiarity with multiple construction related disciplines such as: architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, or building envelope is considered a strong asset.


Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.



Demonstrated Skills and Competencies


Knowledge of construction industry standards, terminology, and CCDC contracts would be an asset.


Strong verbal and written communication skills Effective interpersonal skills


Professional and personal suitability.


Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy.


Familiarity of construction documentation, construction sequencing and construction project scheduling would be an asset


Ability to read, interpret and understand Construction documentation and drawings


Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, computerized accounting, database, electronic mail/calendar, publishing, and presentation computer applications as well as other information management tools, with an emphasis on accuracy


Familiarity with Integrated Workplace Management Systems and various Building Design and Building Information Modelling software would be an asset.
