Description:

The Department of Physiology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a continuing appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the areas of human physiology and graduate professional development. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2023 or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Physiology or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. Candidates must have teaching expertise in a degree granting program at the undergraduate program level, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, course coordination, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and an interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, and the teaching dossier (50 pages maximum, including appendices) as outlined below submitted as part of the application. In addition, strong letters of reference from referees of high standing are required.

The successful candidate may serve as the Director of our Professional Master\'s in Medical Physiology (MHSc) and will have a key role in physiology and professional development education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. One of the responsibilities of the Director position is to identify and develop opportunities for industry and community placements for all of our MHSc students. Priority will be given to applicants who have prior experience in the direction of educational programs at the postgraduate level. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths ( ).
