The Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in the area of Computer Science. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an expected start day of July 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.

Candidates from all areas of computer science are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in computer science or a related field is required by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter. We seek enthusiastic and innovative candidates who have demonstrated professional industry leadership, preferably within R&D groups in the technology sector. Candidates\' teaching interests should also complement and strengthen our existing departmental .

Candidates must have teaching experience and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a degree-granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent and impactful pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities. Candidates must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Demonstrated leadership and knowledge of professional skills (communication, entrepreneurship, project management) in a non-academic environment, primarily industry, is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience engaging with students both in and out of a course setting (for example, providing professional guidance, running professional skills seminars, workshops, etc.), experience contributing to program administration (for example, reviewing program applications, course coordination, curriculum development, etc.), in-depth knowledge of international education systems, and who have excelled in supervising undergraduate or graduate research projects.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below) as well as strong letters of references from referees of high standing. A full teaching dossier should include a statement of teaching philosophy, course syllabi, course evaluations, selected course materials, a list of any awards, evidence of teaching-related scholarly activities.

The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, contribute to the success of the (MScAC) program, and contribute to the enrichment of both undergraduate and graduate programs in the department. The successful candidate is expected to work with the Academic Director, Professional Programs, to support the teaching and academic aspects of the MScAC, a multi-disciplinary program currently with five areas of concentration (Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Math, and Quantum Computing) with additional concentrations under development. Program responsibilities will include: working with the MScAC admissions committee to support and ensure a robust admissions process, professional curriculum development and management, teaching courses as assigned, advising MScAC students, and supervision of MScAC related research projects.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and is competitive with our North American peers.
