As part of the Inclusive Excellence Cluster Hiring Initiative, the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary invites applications for a tenure-track position in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources (OBHR) at the rank of Assistant Professor (Teaching). This position is only open to qualified Indigenous scholars: First Nations (Status, Non-Status), M\xc3\xa9tis, or Inuit. Candidates will be required to provide verifiable evidence of their Indigenous identity. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2024, or at a mutually acceptable date.
Candidates must have completed or nearly completed a PhD in organizational psychology, leadership development or human resource management, or a closely related field. The position requires evidence of teaching effectiveness or competency in teaching and learning. An awareness of how to apply scholarly approaches to teaching & learning practices, participation in reflective practice, and professional learning activities related to teaching and learning would be an asset. Duties include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, professional service for the Haskayne School of Business, the University, and the community. The successful candidate will engage in research and scholarship required to maintain currency in pedagogy and curriculum design as well as scholarly activities that strengthen and inform the knowledge base and expertise of an Assistant Professor (Teaching). In addition, the successful candidate may contribute to Haskayne School of Business\'s Indigenous engagement, as part of Haskayne\'s Indigenous Plan guided by the UCalgary institutional Indigenous strategy ii\' taa\'poh\'to\'p. Salary is competitive and will depend on qualifications, experience, as well as teaching record.
The successful candidate at the Assistant Professor (Teaching) level must demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness in different programs (e.g., graduate and undergraduate), evidence that the applicant can participate in a wide array of teaching activities, teaching innovation, and evidence of an exemplary record of service. The duties of an assistant professor (Teaching) also include staying up to date with pedagogical approaches and content in the discipline, as well as contributions to the community of practice in teaching and learning both at the Haskayne School of Business and the University of Calgary. The successful candidate will engage in research and scholarship required to maintain currency in pedagogy and curriculum design as well as scholarly activities that strengthen and inform the knowledge base and expertise of an Assistant Professor (Teaching). In response to the Final Report on Truth and Reconciliation (2015), experience in teaching, learning, and research with Indigenous communities will be considered a key asset. Accordingly, the chosen applicant will have the opportunity to actively participate in Haskayne School of Business\'s initiatives aimed at engaging with indigenous communities, in line with Haskayne\'s Indigenous Plan.
