About the Faculty of Business, Communication Studies & Aviation

The Faculty of Business, Communication Studies & Aviation comprises the Bissett School of Business, the School of Communication Studies and the Aviation Program. The Bissett School of Business offers a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with majors in accounting, human resources, general management (with concentrations in innovation and entrepreneurship, social innovation). Students in the Bissett School of Business can take a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. The Aviation Program is housed in the Department of International Business, Supply Chain and Aviation and offers a two-year Aviation Diploma and the newly launched four-year Bachelor of Aviation Management. Students in the School of Communications Studies take a four-year Bachelor of Communication Studies (BComms) and can pursue majors in Broadcast Media Studies, Information Design, Journalism and Public Relations. In addition to the two degrees and their majors, students are offered a variety of minors, concentrations and certificates to complement their major.


The Bissett School of Business is an accredited member of EFMD, a global, non-profit, membership-driven organization dedicated to management development.



About the Department of International Business, Supply Chain Management and Aviation

The Department of International Business, Supply Chain Management & Aviation offers a Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring/minoring in International Business or Supply Chain Management along with its newly launched Bachelor of Aviation Management degree (BAM). The Supply Chain Management, BBA major is designed to educate students on trends in global supply chains, international trade and the growing need for businesses to develop more effective processes to create and distribute products and services. The International Business BBA major prepares students to operate and compete in the global business environment through a combination of theory and application. Students develop in-depth knowledge of global trade and cross-cultural management, in addition to methods and strategies associated with foreign market entry.


In addition to the majors, the Department also oversees the Data Analytics minor, which provides graduates with knowledge and skills in this growing field. Through the six required courses, students learn the process of a data-driven project, from gathering and managing data to analyzing the data using multiple techniques, to communicating the results of their insights effectively.




About the Role
==================


The Department of International Business, Supply Chain Management & Aviation at Mount Royal University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2025. We seek an individual who can contribute meaningfully to the statistics and data analytics program and can provide teaching expertise in that area, including:


• Statistics and Analytics for Business (MGMT 2262)
• Business Statistics for Decision Making (MGMT 2263)
• Data Management and Business Analytics (a newly created course)
• Advanced Analytics (MGMT 4501)
• Business Intelligence (MGMT 4511)
• Applied Analytics - Strategic and Professional Practice (MGMT 5501)


The successful candidate may also have the option of developing and delivering special topics courses in analytics in the future. Applicants are encouraged to highlight their qualifications and interests in the above subject area.


New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/ scholarship/ service pattern (TSS) has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member is involved in a research program and is engaged in service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/ service pattern (TS) has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure. Faculty are expected to teach six 3-credit courses per academic year on the TSS pattern or eight 3-credit courses per academic year on the TS pattern. Class sizes typically average between 35-40 students.


This tenure-track faculty position will be hired into a TS work pattern. This means that the faculty member will be responsible for teaching four 3-credit courses each semester and be involved in various service roles.




Responsibilities
--------------------


• Instruction: Course delivery, including preparation of course outlines, course materials, activities, lesson preparation and assessments, and maintaining the course learning management system.
• Administration: Administer final exams, input final grades upon course completion, and participate in course-related meetings, as required.
• Service: May include coaching student competition teams, mentoring student clubs, assisting with the development of curriculum, and serving on departmental or university committees.
• Community: At Mount Royal University our industry connections are an important and integral part of our programs. The successful candidate may be required to actively liaise with industry partners or professional associations on behalf of the Bissett School of Business.

Required Qualifications


• A completed master's degree or higher in statistics, data analytics or a closely related field.
• Teaching experience in statistics, data analytics or in a related field at the postsecondary level and demonstrated proficiency to teach introductory through senior-level statistics /data analytics courses.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: data management, data visualization, advanced analytics techniques, knowledge mobilization of analytical findings.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Professional experience with business analytics
• Experience ensuring the learning environment is accessible and inclusive for diverse student populations
