Assistant Professor, US History
The Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University invites applications for a tenure-track position in United States history at the rank of assistant professor, effective 1 August 2026. The successful applicant is expected to hold a PhD in History or a related field at the time of appointment. Research specialization and period within US History are open. In addition to an innovative research portfolio, the successful candidate is expected to show promise of excellence in teaching and will teach at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate program. All McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. Salary will be negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Applications should include a cover letter detailing research and teaching, and a curriculum vitae. Once application materials have been submitted, candidates will be notified by Workday to provide the contact information for three referees. These referees will then be contacted by Workday to upload their reference letters.
Please note that to work at McGill University, you must be both authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec at the downtown Montreal campus.
