Position Description:

Applications are invited for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The Department seeks candidates who are committed to creating a vigorous research program in any area of inquiry related to Materials Chemistry, in line with McGill University's strategic commitment in Advanced Materials and Sustainability, which has resulted in the recent acquisition of more than $30M of dedicated research infrastructure in the Department. Our search will prioritize candidates proposing to explore applications in Energy and/or Sustainability (e.g., new materials for photovoltaics and energy storage; sustainable production and recycling of materials; heterogenous catalysts for CO2 conversion). We are particularly interested in candidates emphasizing advanced materials characterization or combined synthesis/characterization research programs (although our prime criteria remain to be the originality and excellence of research). We will also consider candidates with a wide range of interdisciplinary training experience.

Job Duties:

Duties include conducting research, teaching undergraduate and graduate classes, supervising students, and standard administrative duties at the levels of the department, university, and research community.



Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Candidates should have a PhD degree with postdoctoral experience, proven research ability and a strong commitment to service and teaching in Chemistry. Successful candidates will be expected to work well in a multi-disciplinary collaborative research environment and develop a research program and expertise that complements existing strengths within the Department of Chemistry.
