The Faculty of Business, Communications Studies and Aviation has a student body of approximately 4000 students and is composed of the Bissett School of Business, the School of Communication Studies, and an Aviation program. The Bissett School of Business hosts four departments: General Management & Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, International Business & Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship, Marketing & Social Innovation.

About the BBA, Human Resources
The Department of General Management & Human Resources offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees in both General Management and Human Resources. The BBA in General Management helps students understand the "big picture" in a variety of business sectors. The BBA in Human Resources helps students build a solid academic foundation to pursue career possibilities in human resources. The program focuses on driving organizational performance through recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, employee performance and engagement, organizational learning and development, labour relations, transition management, organizational metrics, and HR strategy. Our graduates are well prepared to pursue a career in Human Resources and obtain the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
About the Role
The Department of General Management & Human Resources at Mount Royal University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2026. We seek an individual who can contribute meaningfully to the human resources program and can provide teaching expertise to several of the core HR courses, including: Introduction to Human Resources, Transition Management, Compensation and Benefits, Organizational Learning, and Organizational Development. The successful candidate may also have the option of developing and delivering special topics in HR course(s) in the future. Applicants are encouraged to highlight their qualifications and interests in each applicable subject area.
New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/ scholarship/ service pattern (TSS) has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member is involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/ service pattern (TS) has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure. Faculty are expected to teach six 3-credit hour courses per academic year on the TSS pattern or eight 3-credit hour courses per academic year on the TS pattern. Class sizes typically average between 35-40 students.
This tenure-track faculty will be hired into a TS work pattern. This means that the faculty member will be responsible for teaching 8 courses per year (usually 4 in each of the fall and winter terms with some flexibility) and will be involved in various service roles. Per our Collective Agreement, "a candidate who has two or more years' service in a tenure track position or a full-time academic staff appointment at a Universities Canada accredited, or equivalent, institution may have up to two years credited towards the probationary period at Mount Royal University" (Article 4.3.9.2, p.17).
