The School of Planning at Dalhousie University invites applications for a limited-term teaching appointment at the Assistant Professor level, starting in July 2025 for a period of three years.Dalhousie University, located in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's top research and teaching universities. Together, we embrace the core values of collaboration, innovation, community integration, diversity and inclusion.The School is looking for an outstanding candidate with proven teaching expertise in urban planning. The successful candidate will be expected to advance a teaching agenda and experience in teaching planning studios, planning theory, history, site planning, and/or planning law in the Canadian context is desired. Professional planners with a masters degree or academic candidates holding a PhD are encouraged to apply for this position. The candidate will be expected to teach two to three courses per term. The chosen candidate will teach on site.The successful candidate will have at least one terminal accredited degree in planning at the undergraduate or graduate level. Being a registered or licensed professional planner (RPP or LPP, for instance) as recognized by the Professional Standard Board (PSB) for planning profession in Canada or demonstrating a commitment to seeking professional certification following acceptance of the offer, is highly desirable. The new faculty member will be expected to teach core and elective courses in the graduate and undergraduate programs, supervise thesis students, advance the discipline, and actively engage in administrative functions to shape the School's future.
