Position Description
The McGill University Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time position as member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical). This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.
The successful candidate will be appointed to clinical practice at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH)--a member facility of the CIUSSS-West-Central Montreal and a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada's internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.
The Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery is part of McGill University, Canada's most international university, which is in vibrant, multicultural Montreal, in the francophone province of Quebec. The neuroscience community at McGill and in greater Montreal is one of the largest and most diverse in North America.
The Division of Neurology has active clinical and basic research programs in cerebrovascular disease as well as clinical and clinical research programs in movement disorders, behavioural neurology, demyelinating diseases, autonomic nervous system disorders, neuromuscular diseases and basic science research activities in the mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration and leads strong clinical neuroscience teaching programs in undergraduate and postgraduate medicine.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the McGill University Department of Neurology of Neurosurgery. They will actively contribute to a strong interdisciplinary clinical and/or clinical research program in movement disorders at McGill University.
The successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill's academic mission (e.g., teaching, research, supervision of graduate students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). They will provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to diverse residents and medical students and are expected to pursue scholarly activities in advancing clinical care in movement disorders.
