The Department of Anthropology at McGill University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 1, 2026. We seek a colleague whose research complements existing faculty strengths in our department, and who is committed to building connections across subfields and related disciplines. While we welcome applicants from any research area, region, or subfield, we are especially interested in socio-cultural anthropologists and in archaeologists working in historical, recent or contemporary contexts. The successful candidate will have an active and original research agenda and strong publication record and will demonstrate a capacity for methodological and theoretical innovation. They will also be able to teach a diverse portfolio of undergraduate and graduate courses, including introductory offerings, as well as specialized courses in their area of expertise. We value pedagogical innovation and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching that engages diverse learners. In addition to teaching and research, all McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
