Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.

The successful candidate will assist the storage manager in storing 80 million lbs of potatoes for up to 12 months and oversee the shipping of product to our fry plant in New Annan to be turned into delicious french fries! Other key responsibilities include the supervision of staff, general upkeep and upgrades of the storage facility and record management.

This is a progressive role with potential growth into the storage manager role.

Wage range: $24-28 plus OT and Sunday premium, bonuses and clothing allowance

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• 3 or more years if managerial/supervisory experience, with preference to those in the field of manufacturing or agriculture.
• Experience in overseeing a safety program
• Ability to operate agricultural equipment (forklift, dump trucks/tandems, piler, hog, tractor)
• Proven experience as a people manager with the ability to lead a team in accomplishing business objectives
• Results driven with a demonstrated ability to use physical and personnel resources to meet set targets
• Ability to plan and execute short and long term strategies such as, but not limited to, budget, preventative maintenance, staffing and production
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to react quickly to unanticipated issues
• Proven ability in communicating effectively in both formal and informal settings with external and internal customers.
• Strong computer skills and willingness to leverage technology to meet business needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the day-to-day operation of storage buildings, monitoring ventilation systems and inspecting product
• Operate equipment such as tractor, loader, forklift, skid steer and potato handling equipment as needed
• Participate in safety calls & initiatives, report hazards, maintain detailed training records
• Assist with the creation of annual budget, create and receive purchase orders
• Assist local growers with their potato storage needs
• Schedule and supervise full time staff as well as up to 40 seasonal employees, hired to fill and empty the storage warehouses
• Supervise crop scouting of local fields during the growing season
• Lead orientation and training for employees

• Plan equipment and building maintenance and repairs, ensure inventory of supplies and parts
• Keep accurate and detailed food safety records as required for Canada Gap certification

• Constantly seek and implement new and improved ways to conduct storage operations
