Reporting to the Manager, Pension & Benefits, the incumbent provides administrative support related to pension, prepares and explains pension calculations to plan members and is the initial contact person for all Pension and Life Insurance (death benefit) related inquiries.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to inquiries related to pension and Life Insurance claims (death benefit) and acts as a resource person for pension@ccess website.
  • Process calculations and projections using specialized pension formulas; prepare and distribute written communication accordingly for termination, retirement, Additional Voluntary Contributions and death.
  • Process reciprocal transfers (RTA) and separation/divorce cases; prepare subpoena responses.
  • Process Life Insurance claims: validate appropriate legal documentation, coordinate and communicate with estate executor and insurance carrier.
  • Input data into HRIS and (ARIEL) Pension administration database (ad hoc changes as a result of a life event i.e. beneficiary, address, etc.)
  • Validate data for Pension calculations, annual statement preparation, interface files with pension administration database (ARIEL), Pension Fund custodial reports and Pension Fund audit.
  • Peer review the entire foregoing Pension related activities and calculations.
  • Participate in special projects and administrative duties resulting from Pension activities as required.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma of collegial studies (3 yr.) in field related to the primary responsibilities and 4 to 7 years of experience, at least 2 years client service experience in an HR department or finance department where responsibilities involve mathematical applications.
  • Familiarity with Pension legislation and Pension and Group Insurance terminology. Knowledge of Concordia University Pension plan and group insurance plans is an asset
  • Intermediate skills in MS Word (create templates, create and format complex tables and create mail merges), MS Excel (able to create, modify, and format charts) and MS Access.
  • Knowledge of HRIS System and ARIEL or similar system is an asset.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills; attention to detail
  • Very good Spoken and written English and French (level 5) in order to respond to inquiries and complaints from employees and pensioners on the telephone and in person; Written and conversational French in order to handle requests for information from employees and pensioners.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
