The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidates qualifications and experience. This will be a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenureThe Department of Pathology is a leader in pathology education and research. We are committed to the pursuit of excellence in education and research training in a wide variety of areas such as carcinogenesis, mechanisms of respiratory diseases, molecular pathology and immunology, neoplasia and cell biology, cell differentiation, cell adhesion molecules, biomedical image processing, neurodegenerative disorders, and ophthalmic pathology.The Division of Dermatopathology is seeking a dermatopathologist to join a high-volume comprehensive Division with a dynamic group of 23 pathologists based at the MUHC, Glen site. The Glen site is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canadas renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.The Glen Pathology lab is part of the Optilab Montr\xc3\xa9al MUHC network. Over 65,000 surgical specimens and 55,000 cytology specimens are processed annually at the Glen. The Dermatopathology service covers a wide spectrum of specimens and diseases such as inflammatory dermatoses, cutaneous malignancies and lymphomas, alopecia, and routine cases. The service works in close collaboration with the MUHC melanoma referral center and provides a well-established consultation service at the Provincial level.Job DutiesThe successful candidate will be appointed to the Department of Pathology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The incumbent will be expected to participate in the diagnostic work of the Dermatopathology team based at the Glen site. The successful candidate will also be expected to share the intraoperative consultations and on call duties with the other members of the Glen pathology team and actively participate in quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement programs.The successful candidate is also expected to maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established performance indicators and turn-around times.In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGills academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). Active participation is expected in activities such as quality assurance/control and quality improvement programs.McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.Qualifications and Education RequirementsCandidates must:Hold an MD degree, and must hold, or be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec;Have completed certification in Anatomic Pathology and be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent);Have completed at least one year of fellowship training in Dermatopathology;Be committed to teaching and possess a strong interest in research and publication;Have a proven ability to work in a team and have a strong track record of collegiality;Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec.
