Job Description

The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Faculty of Health, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-stream faculty position in an area of audiology that compliments the existing strengths of the School and Faculty.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in audiology or a related field (e.g., hearing science, neuroscience, rehabilitation, biomedicine, psychology). Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in the areas of amplification, aural (re)habilitation, and/or pediatric audiology, although other areas of expertise may be considered (e.g., vestibular disorders, industrial audiology). Expertise of the candidate must be supported by a strong record of scientific productivity including peer-reviewed publication records and research plan. One to two years of postdoctoral experience and eligibility for registration in the Nova Scotia College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists (NSCASLP) are preferred. The incumbent will have demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in graduate teaching in areas that complement our curriculum, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.

The successful candidate is expected to secure extramural research funding, including Tri-Agency funding, and lead an innovative and collaborative research program. The candidate will be required to teach, mentor, and supervise graduate students. The teaching assignments will include courses that reflect the expertise of the successful candidate. The candidate is expected to become an active and engaged member of the School, Faculty, and University. Activities at local, national, and international levels are expected to promote continuous improvement in research, teaching, and learning at Dalhousie.

Applications must also include an original, innovative five-year research program plan with clear objectives that describe methodological approaches, including partnerships or collaboration, and that address how proposed activities will be funded.

The School is also affiliated with Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia which provides publicly funded audiology services to all Nova Scotians as well as speech-language services to both adults and preschool and home-school children.
