Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager
The Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research (CHASR) is a unique university-based research support and consulting service. Operating on a cost-recovery basis, CHASR regularly engages and supports academic-based researchers from a variety of disciplines, backgrounds, and institutions, government (federal, provincial, and municipal) and NGO clients, and private sector firms. With a broad range of experience, expertise, and tools at our disposal, CHASR supports a diverse array of applied and social research. We support all phases of research, including data collection, data processing, data analysis, and reporting. Our in-house supports and tools enable us to lend unique and innovative approaches to all CHASR-supported research.
Primary Purpose: To assist in the delivery of mixed methods research support services across the Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research (CHASR). Acting as an administrative and project manager, the Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager serves as a resource to the Mixed Methods Research Manager and Specialist in support of new and ongoing research studies that utilize mixed (quantitative and/or qualitative) research approaches. The Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager conducts and provides support with transcription quality control (assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI) software), quantitative/qualitative data collection, analysis/interpretation, and reporting activities. The Assistant Manager also provides support overseeing the day-to-day operations and administration related to mixed analyses and reporting services within CHASR, including preparing quotes, research service agreements (contracts), invoices, electronic job submissions, timesheet submission approvals, research assistants\' management (i.e., hiring, training, project oversight, supervision, and performance evaluations), and project tracking and administration.
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Mixed Methods Research Manager and Specialist at CHASR, the Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager supports research projects with a mixed approach across the unit and is responsible for data transformation via transcription services. The Assistant Manager works both independently and in a team environment with researchers from a broad array of disciplines, providing expertise and specialized support to ensure that quantitative/qualitative data collection, conversion, analysis, and reporting needs are addressed. It requires the establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships and collaborations with faculty and external partners in an environment of continuous change. The Assistant Mixed Methods Research Manager regularly works with managers and research staff across CHASR to ensure the unit remains a valuable resource for researchers at the University of Saskatchewan and beyond. The Assistant Manager must exhibit time and organizational skills and superior project management skills. The position may, on occasion, require long and/or irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
