As an Assistant Mines Technologist, the successful incumbent is expected to do ventilation and survey duties which will assist with the planning work. This role requires regular work underground (3 to 4 days per week).The OpportunityWe are currently seeking an Assistant Mines Technologist, to join our Sudbury Operations.To provide mining technologist support at Creighton Mine.Accountabilities:

  • Assists in surveying and ventilation duties as directed to support the short and long-term production planning requirements.
  • Performs surveying, performs cavity surveys, prepares incentive contracts, copies and distributes prints and safety notices.
  • Performs ventilation measurements and logs underground data for analysis.
  • Performs routine ground control duties such as geotechnical data gathering.
  • Performs calibration, minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
  • Responsible to provide service to internal or external customers in a timely way according to the specific requests and stated expectations of the customer. The quality of the service is largely guided by government legislation and by Vale mine standards.
  • Frequent underground travel is required.
About YouEducation: Minimum 2 Year Community College Diploma in an appropriate mining discipline or post-secondary equivalent.Experience: Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in ventilation, surveying, and ground control monitoring.Skills:
  • General knowledge of surveying, ventilation, incentive, safety notification and ground control principles.
  • Use and Maintenance of ventilation and survey equipment.
  • Proficiency in the use of: DeswikCAD, and Microsoft Excel.
