THE ROLE



In conjunction with the Mess (Hospitality) Manager, the Assistant Mess (Hospitality) Manager (AMM) will help oversee the seamless operation of the Wardroom and Gunroom Messes, ensuring the highest health, hygiene, safety, and security standards. The AMM's responsibilities include enforcing provincial liquor legislation and organizational policies regarding alcohol service, managing employee schedules and performance, and identifying training needs. The AMM will coordinate administrative needs of the Mess and ensure members of the appropriate rank are seamlessly cleared in and out of the Mess. The role involves responding to feedback, managing budgets, and conducting audits to maintain financial integrity.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses





High school diploma AND several years of experience in the food service sector, or in a related hospitality field, including supervisory experience



Provincial Responsible Service of Alcohol certification, as required


Experience





In coordinating bar operations services



In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation



In coordinating banquets and functions



In inventory and bar management



In negotiating service contracts



In preparing marketing strategies



In managing facilities



In budget administration



In personnel administration



In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail, and Internet browsing


Competencies





Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS



English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset



Reading: Functional



Writing: Functional



Oral: Functional
