Assistant Manager

. Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant Manager plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates the operations of Northbest Distributors a retail wholesale establishment.

A Day in the Life




Reporting to the

General Manager

, your job duties include:

Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of all departments. Manage staff and assign duties Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales Determine merchandise and services to be sold, and implement price policies Source and negotiate with vendors when necessary to procure merchandise for resale Develop and implement marketing strategies Assist with planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, and monitor revenues Evaluate and improve customer service and respond to customer requests and issues Address staffing requirements, including the hiring, development and retention of staff Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within assigned territory. Research customer business needs and develops a mix of products and services to meet needs. Drive vehicle travel to customer accounts, conventions, and company meetings. Manage deliveries according to the routing schedule published by the transportation department; troubleshoot any problems that occur during the order process (e.g., out-of-stock items, special order items, and low inventory). Engage in ongoing training sessions and assist with training new employees as requested. Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits, and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and suggestions, and filing reports. Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring



Bachelor's degree or diploma in business, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related discipline or; A High School Diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of retail Management experience B2B or outside sales experience, or equivalent relatable experience Highly organized and well-developed oral and written communication skills Reside or willing to relocate to the Yellowknife, Northwest Territories Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office, including excellent. Ability to read, write, and speak English and or the official languages of Northwest Territories will be an asset. Able to build trusting business relationships and customer loyalty Ability to conduct sales follow-up and persuasiveness Adaptability to changing business needs Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable Familiarity with Yellowknives Dene language, culture and way of life would be considered assets.
