We are looking for an Assistant Manager, Transit Operations (Subway) to join our team in Transit Control Department.
As the Assistant Manager, Transit Operations, you are the central authority in coordinating and directing all real-time operational activities and emergency responses for your assigned Transportation Mode (Subway). You will continuously assess and coordinate Transit Control Centre (TCC) operations and personnel under the general guidance of the Duty Manager - Transit Control for the day to day operations.
What You Will Do

• Ensuring that all scheduled service commitments are met, and taking appropriate action when interferences to planned service occur;
• Monitoring the information board/display for their assigned mode (e.g. CSS, Subway Mimic board/display, ICS and subway operations) and recommending service adjustments to the appropriate staff as required;
• Ascertaining and appraising the nature of occurrences/events by investigating and overseeing work done by operating and front line supervisory personnel;
• Directing, channeling, and actively participating in communication activities between TTC emergency/management teams and external emergency response agencies;
• Liaising with Operations staff to ensure all communications systems operate properly;
• Assisting with the selection, training and supervision of Transit Control Centre staff;
• Facilitating conflict resolution within the TCC and be the first level of escalation for conflict resolution;
• Participating in shift briefings and prepare summaries of activities and other reports as required;
• Liaising with other management/supervisory personnel from throughout the TTC to ensure the proper coordination of joint projects/activities, and regarding Transit Control activities and the investigation of occurrences, as well as the proper coordination of joint projects/activities.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

• Your educational background will consist of the completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
• You will have a minimum 3 years of directly related supervisory experience in Public Transit Operations or in a similar transit industry where you have managed, motivated, counselled, coached, disciplined, and assessed the performance of subordinate unionized and/or non-unionized employees.
• You have knowledge of business administration practices and procedures.
• Your application demonstrating that you have a comprehensive knowledge of Mode specific (Subway), Transit Control systems including ICS (Integrated Communications System), CSS (Central-office Signaling System), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is considered an asset.
• Thorough knowledge of transit operations including the signal system, automatic train protection system, in order to quickly ascertain situations and initiate the appropriate course of corrective action with little or no direct guidance is considered an asset.
• Comprehensive knowledge of legislation regarding safety, human rights, and employment.
• In addition, you have sound judgement, well developed time management, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplined teams, deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships.
• You have the ability to track multiple projects, establish deadlines, and make sound business decisions in a timely fashion to adjust to changing situations.
• You have the ability to prepare and interpret reports, recognize problems, evaluate and recommend solutions.
• You are proficient in the use of a computer and associated Microsoft applications, and other business specific programs such as ICS, CSS, Maximo.
• You currently have a valid non-probationary class "G" driver's licence in the Province of Ontario, and use of own vehicle.
• Must have or rapidly obtain St. John's Ambulance Courses in First Aid.
• Tower Cross-Over qualification is considered an asset.
