The Assistant Manager - Scheduling & Finance is an integral part of the RBC Centre's operational leadership team. Reporting to the Manager - Scheduling, Finance & Administration, this position supports the efficient day-to-day operations of the facility, with a focus on facility scheduling, financial administration, front-line customer service, and internal staff coordination. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, multi-use recreation environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate all facility scheduling, including contracts, ice time and meeting room bookings
Act as the main liaison for user groups such as minor and adult hockey leagues, figure skating clubs, skating and hockey schools, and individual renters
Provide exceptional customer service while responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining positive relationships with user groups
Assist in the planning and execution of tournaments, events, and seasonal scheduling
Supervise and support Guest Services staff, including training, scheduling, and performance feedback
Maintain and manage leases and rental contracts for the facility
Oversee daily financial operations including invoicing, cash handling, internal reporting, and assisting with financial statements
Work closely with the Manager of Finance & Administration/Scheduling and NRI's Accountant on monthly reporting and financial tracking
Review financial procedures and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accountability
Support human resources functions, including payroll preparation, onboarding, and general HR administration
Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures, especially those related to safety, risk management, and cost control
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager- Scheduling & Finance
Qualifications & Competencies:
Post-secondary education; a university degree in business, recreation, or a related field is preferred
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in facility scheduling and financial administration
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with scheduling software and Simply Accounting (Sage 50) is an asset
Strong understanding of customer service principles and human resource practices
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities
Familiarity with hockey or ice sports operations considered an asset
