Peaks, Barriere, Clearwater, Vavenby, and Blue River to the north, Logan Lake


to the south, Savona to the west and Chase and Westwold to the east.

The Opportunity ASSISTANT



MANAGER, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAM (ISP) HOMESTAY







Applications


are invited for the position of Assistant Manager of International Student


Program (ISP) Homestay for School District No. 73 (Kamloops-Thompson). This is a part-time exempt position starting


at $40 000 per year. The position is


twenty hours per week as determined by the District Principal International


Student Program and the Homestay Manager and will include some evening and


weekend work. The International Student


Program (ISP) Homestay Assistant Manager will work closely with the ISP team,


under the direction of the District Principal - International Education, to


effectively work with the ISP Homestay Manager to manage the operational


components of the International Student Homestay Program.


Responsibilities



Promoting

the Homestay Program and the value of International Student Programs in the


community

Overseeing

and working with the School District No. 73 Communications Department for the


recruitment of prospective homestay families through a variety of methods

Working

with the Homestay Manager to design, maintain, and revise homestay family


application and selection processes, contracts/agreements, a homestay family


handbook, records, student handbook, student placement processes and homestay


profiles to meet program, district, and governmental needs and requirements and


to reduce and mitigate risk

Supporting

the vetting and selection process for homestays (including reviewing


applications, facilitating Criminal Record Checks, home visits and collecting


other relevant information)

Assisting

with making homestay placements for all programming

Maintaining

the homestay component of the True North database

Providing

regular communication to homestay families through the True North database

Provide

presentations to students (one-on-one or as part of an orientation) on how to


be successful in a homestay environment

Ensure

that students have the proper documentation and permission when travelling


outside the Kamloops area

Tracking

arrival and departure information of students and meeting them with their


homestay families at the airport upon arrival

Providing

orientation to new families and ongoing in-service training and education for


returning homestay families

Providing

homestay profiles, in a timely manner, to agents for their incoming students

Support

homestay families and students with the coordination of medical plans and


assist in hospital visits, including medical claims

Attending

meetings as requested by the District Principal - International Student Program

Problem-solving

student and homestay related issues as they arise

Provide

pick-up/drop off support for emergency homestay moves

Availability

for evening and weekend on-call duties, including at times monitoring the


emergency phone

Perform

all related duties as assigned by the District Principal - International


Education, Assistant Superintendent responsible for International Education and


the ISP Homestay Manager









Qualifications



Post

secondary degree, certificate, or equivalent combination of education and


experience

Experience

working in a homestay service or program

Experience

in marketing

Experience

working with international students and demonstrated cross cultural


understanding and sensitivity

Highly

effective interpersonal and professional communication skills, both written and


verbal

Demonstrated

organizational and management skills including the ability to meet deadlines

Ability

to work independently and as a member of a diverse team

Excellent

leadership skills, using tact and good judgement, especially when faced with


stressful situations

Ability

to use standard office equipment, proficiency with MS Office, database programs


and administrative software

Fluency

in spoken and written English

A

valid BC driver's license, business use insurance and a safe driving record

Ability

to work extended hours, weekends and evenings as required









Compensation







The salary for


this position is $40,000, plus an excellent comprehensive benefits package.
