Job Description

XO Bistro + Bar is a trendy modern Vietnamese lounge and restaurant located in the heart of Edmonton's Ice District. Reporting to the business owners, the Assistant Manager oversees the daily operations of the business, and provides support to kitchen and waiting staff. This position will also work in collaboration with the owners to brainstorm appropriate marketing and branding strategies as well as completing other duties as required, including: minor grocery runs, inventory, ordering, etc.

Work hours vary per week, may range from 40-50 hours. Possible advancement to General Manager position.

Tasks and Responsibilities



Management and Leadership

Manage staff performance in accordance with established standards and procedures Provide training and coaching for new staff members Organize and monitor staff schedules Assess staffing requirements and recruit staff when needed (in collaboration with the business owners) Coordinate restaurant operations during each shift
Safety and Regulations

Monitor adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards in kitchen and restaurant Ensure alcohol regulations are adhered to by all staff members and customers Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, customers and business assets
Operations and Finance

Arrange for maintenance and repairs of equipment and services Interact with customers to ensure all inquiries and complaints are handled promptly Organize and supervise marketing and promotional activities Keep current with trends in the restaurant industry Check and order supplies of non-food items Identify and estimate food and beverage supply requirements and place orders with suppliers Ensure correct storage of supplies

Qualifications



Post-secondary education (diploma or degree) in business administration, operations management, or another related field is preferred Asian food background and supervisory training is an asset Working experience with Microsoft Office and POS systems is an asset Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: purchasing, sanitation, security, policies and procedures, personnel management, record keeping, and preparation of reports Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is mandatory for this position Proserve is required (candidates without proserve may still be considered and complete the training after hire) Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards Must be customer service focused Effective communicator and critical problem solver Attention to detail and possess great organizational skills Available to work evenings and weekends with a flexible schedule
