The Assistant Manager - eCommerce is responsible for supporting daily operations, managing staff performance, and ensuring smooth execution of eCommerce processes, bridging day-to-day activity with departmental growth initiatives and operational compliance.

What You Will Do




Manage and support daily eCommerce operations, overseeing processing, listing, shipping, and customer service to ensure departmental goals and targets are met. Train, develop, and supervise team members, including scheduling, time tracking, and performance documentation. Promote and enforce workplace health, safety, loss prevention, and Lean-oriented processes to improve efficiency, safeguard property, and standardize work. Identify and address workflow bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and operational gaps, driving continuous improvement. Use performance data to build dashboards and reports that track KPIs, support analysis, and inform decision-making. Encourage innovation by supporting new ideas, process improvements, and pilot initiatives. Maintain strong working knowledge of backend systems (e.g., Upright Lister, ShopGoodwill, eBay, EasyPost), including platform settings, workflows, and integrations, and assist with troubleshooting and system improvements. Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to resolve operational and logistical issues affecting efficiency and performance. Engage with retail stores by offering feedback, sharing performance insights, and helping improve item selection for eCommerce. Assist in handling escalated customer service issues, ensuring timely resolution and a positive customer experience. Develop, review, and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and training resources in collaboration with the Learning team and frontline staff. Support the rollout of new tools, workflows, or process changes, ensuring smooth adoption by the team.

What We Are Looking For




Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse environment. Proven ability to translate strategic goals into actionable operational plans. Customer service skills for interacting with buyers, internal teams, donors, and retail partners. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing workflows and inventory accuracy. Understanding of photography principles and ability to capture quality images for online listings. Knowledge of item testing, inspection, cleaning, and ensuring functionality across a wide range of products. Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry. Health and safety knowledge, including loss prevention procedures and audit practices. Proven experience managing processes and supervising staff in a production or retail environment. Ability to coach, train, and develop team members for improved performance. Experience in shipping, receiving, inventory management, and related logistics considered an asset. Knowledge of rare, collectible, and unique items, and ability to maintain awareness of market trends. Experience with image editing or photo manipulation software (e.g., Photoshop) considered an asset. Satisfactory criminal reference check (vulnerable persons check).
