Assistant Manager

What You'll Be Doing: The Core Responsibilities
As the Assistant Manager, you'll be the Store Manager's right hand, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the store. Your key responsibilities will include:
Team Leadership & Motivation:
Inspiring and motivating the sales team to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals.
Performance Management:
Ensuring staff are completing their assigned tasks and maintaining high standards of customer service and operational efficiency. This includes holding team members accountable and providing constructive feedback.
Operational Excellence:
Proactively identifying tasks and needs within the store, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring follow-through to completion.
Inventory & Visual Merchandising:
Overseeing the proper receiving, processing, and display of merchandise, including ensuring all stock is correctly priced and that the sales floor is well-stocked and visually appealing.
Customer Service & Issue Resolution:
Handling escalated customer complaints and challenging situations with confidence, diplomacy, and a solutions-oriented approach.
Sales Floor Support:
Stepping onto the sales floor to assist staff with selling and serving customers, especially during peak hours or when support is needed.
Scheduling & Administration:
Assisting with staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and managing general administrative tasks as needed.
Additional Assistant Manager Duties:
POS & E-commerce Management:
Becoming proficient with our
Shopify
point-of-sale (POS) system and managing the in-store side of online order fulfillment.
Loss Prevention:
Training staff on loss prevention measures and maintaining a constant awareness of store security.
Training & Onboarding:
Assisting in the training and onboarding of new staff members, focusing on product knowledge, sales techniques, and company policies.
Cash Management:
Overseeing daily till counts, deposits, and ensuring accurate cash handling procedures are followed.
Keyholder Responsibilities:
Opening and closing the store, securing the premises, and acting as the manager-on-duty in the Store Manager's absence.
What We're Looking For:
Proven Experience:
A minimum of
one (1) year of prior management or supervisory experience
in a retail or customer-facing environment is essential. Footwear or fashion retail experience is a strong asset.
Strong Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
Confidence & Dedication:
A high degree of self-assurance and the dedication to commit fully to the store's success, including flexibility to work a varied schedule including evenings and weekends.
Organizational Skills:
Excellent delegation, time management, and organizational abilities.
Tech Savvy:
Familiarity and comfort with using
Shopify
or similar POS/e-commerce platforms.
