Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Audio, the Seasonal Assistant Head of Audio works with the Audio staff to manage all audio production and facility resources for event activities within the Francis Winspear Centre for Music. This role works closely in conjunction with the Lighting and Stage Management departments. This term position will work from October 2025 to June 2026, working on average 30 hours/week.
This position adheres to the Collective Agreement between the Winspear Centre and the IATSE Local Union No. 210. If you have a permit, you will be required to apply for membership.
What you will do:
Assist with audio/visual related activity managed by the department
Ensure that all audio production equipment is well maintained and in good working order, and bring any necessary repairs or problems to Head of Audio
Assist and coordinate the purchases, installation, and maintenance of event-related audio production equipment
Adhere to the Collective Agreement negotiated between IATSE and the facility for audio production personnel
Adhere to, implement, and enforce the facilities' Health and Safety Policies and Procedures guidelines
Supervise contractors for maintenance and inspections of audio production equipment
Arrange for the supply of labour and equipment from outside sources as required, in consultation with client representatives
Assist in preparation of annual budget requirements for operating and capital expenses and track expenses
Provide technical information to confirmed and potential clients
Assist with distribution of information to pertinent departments and client representatives
Maintain professional relationships with suppliers, clients and related organizations
Qualifications
Previous Audio or related experience in an entertainment industry environment
Knowledge of the music industry with an understanding of orchestral requirements
Experience with industry riders and touring requirements
Intermediate understanding of audio/visual systems
Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office suite of software, with proficiency in Excel
An understanding of financial reporting and budgeting
Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage a team
Familiarity working with union (IATSE) crews
Able to develop and maintain business relationships with clients and suppliers
The ability to work in a creative environment, with firm deadlines and evolving requirements
