The Role:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hotel and supports the General Manager - and in turn the entire Hotel family, as a key member of the property leadership team.
The Assistant General Manager directs and coordinates hotels activities to obtain optimum efficiency, economy of operations, and maximize full potential - with a balanced focus on hotel's profitability, guest experience, and employee satisfaction.
Key areas of focus for the AGM will include but are not limited to: Overall Service Delivery, Building, Grounds and Preventative Maintenance, QA, Banquet / F&B Floor Operations, Revenue Management, Sales, Brand Championing, and Process / Project Management.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in mid-to-senior leadership roles within Hotel operations and a passion for coaching and developing people, delivering exemplary service and building strong teams. Hilton Enterprise and demonstrated experience working within a unionized environment will be considered strong assets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Function as General Manager in their absence.
Assist General Manager with duties, projects and tasks as assigned.
Always approachable, and have an open-door policy at all times.
Builds strong working relationships and communications well with Hotel staff, Department Heads and vendors to ensure maximum operating effectiveness.
Ability to appropriately assign or delegate work and authority to others in the accomplishment of goals, and provide coaching, advice and assistance as required.
Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Function as the Manager on Duty and 24/7 on call for property emergencies
Runs point on key operational projects and programs developed with and assigned to Department Heads and/or Supervisory Teams.
Leads: Preventative Service, Service delivery, Service recovery and guest communication / follow-up programs.
Leads: QA, Brand Standards and Building and Preventative Maintenance and Inspection Programs. Works closely with Housekeeping, Maintenance and other operating departments to develop and implement plans and programs to optimize performance.
Leads: Life Safety and OH&S Programs, Training and Processes for the Hotel
Strong familiarity with banquet and F&B floor operations and plays active role in the daily operation of these areas.
Project Management: Key safety, operational and process improvement project development and implementation.
Plays active role in Revenue Management for the property
Plays active role in the Human Resources function for the property, including but not limited to: recruitment, engagement, retention and performance evaluations.
Plays active role in Sales, Client Relations and other key sales functions as needed.
Plays active role in Capital and key development planning and initiatives for the property.
Plays active role in Budgeting, Budget Planning, Sales Reporting, Month-End Reporting and maintains accurate reports and records of guest, client and account productivity.
Plays active role in procurement, quoting / purchase ordering review, submission and approval process for the property.
Plays active role in labour relations for the property.
Builds Ownership confidence through proactive communication, setting and managing expectations and delivering solid business results.
All Other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Company Ownership.
