We are currently looking for an Assistant Foreperson in Automatic Train Control to join our Rail Cars & Shops Department!

This position provides supervisory assistance by monitoring and managing the work performed by employees in the section.

The successful incumbent will coordinate work schedules and familiarize employees with their work and safety procedures within the section.

What You Will Do

You will observe the Subway train operations (mainline, wye, and yards), while manually operating the Alstom Centralized Signaling System (CSS) panel in order to ensure that scheduled subway service is met You will be assisting the Foreperson and/or Supervisor in responding to emergency situations by monitoring the occurrence and adjusting service levels in an effort to mitigate service disruptions and maintain established service levels and standards Assist the Foreperson with overseeing and supervising hourly-rated employees, performing yard operation and dispatching duties to ensure productivity and meet scheduled subway service Ensure that rules and regulations in the union agreement, TTC and department policies and government legislation (human rights, labour relations, Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.) are satisfied and applied fairly and consistently; and that employees are properly trained in all aspects of the work and in the operation of any equipment specific to the work Ensure the preparation of the service log reports containing all pertinent information as required Substitute for another Foreperson within the section, as required Promote a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Helps to build an inclusive and accessible work and service environment for all employees and customers. Ensures the needs of employees and customers are accommodated in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent. Knowledge of transit operations, including yard activities, signaling and train control systems, emergency procedures, safety regulations, and service adjustment strategies to effectively manage delays and maintain operational continuity would be an asset. Familiar with transit vehicles, control rooms, rail infrastructure, signaling and train control systems Sound judgment, organizational and problem solving skills necessary to coordinate and delegate multiple tasks simultaneously to a group of employees, and to perform within a "control centre" environment Well-developed interpersonal, leadership and team building skills with the ability to work as part of a team environment, plus the ability to supervise a unionized workforce Effective verbal communications skills required in order to concisely convey vital information Strong computer skills and the ability to simultaneously work with various computer programs and applications related to the work A valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License The successful candidate must be able to attain and maintain Subway Yard Operator (SYO) qualification Will be required to complete various courses in effective supervision in addition to technical and refresher courses related to areas of responsibility Must have sound knowledge of the Collective Agreement, Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act
