Key Responsibilities
Assist with the following accounting activities:
Accounting operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, payroll, and financial reporting.
Preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of assets, inventory, loans, prepaids and accruals.
Timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports
Prepare Work in Progress (WIP) reports and review with project managers
Supervise payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely employee compensation.
Preparation of tax filings (GST, PST, WCB, Payroll Remittance, BCEHT and T5018 - Statement of Contract Payments)
Implement and maintain strong internal controls.
Annual insurance renewal (Commercial Insurance, Fleet insurance & Group Benefits Programs)
Communicate with banks, external auditors, surety, and other stakeholders as required.
Compliance with Canadian GAAP, tax regulations, and internal accounting policies.
Qualifications
Education
College diploma or bachelor's degree in accounting or in progress towards a bachelor's degree (completed two years).
Experience
Minimum 5 years+ of accounting experience
Previous construction cost accounting experience is preferred
Previous experience in senior accounting role
Strong communication and leadership skills
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Previous experience in civil construction an asset
Proficient in accounting software and systems.
Previous experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software program. Prior experience with Eclipse Explorer Software an asset
Maintain high level of confidentiality
Proficient in the English language
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
