Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic

Assistant Educator

to join our team. As an Assistant Educator, you will work closely under the leadership of Lead Educator. Along with peer Assistant Educators you will be responsible to provide high-quality care, educational programming, leading physical activities and providing support to children assigned to your classroom. This position requires a nurturing and patient individual who is passionate about early childhood education, children's well-being and holistic development. The Assistant Educator will assist in implementing age-appropriate activities, individualized growth plans, maintaining a safe and engaging environment, and supporting the overall functioning of the assigned classroom.

Responsibilities:

1. Classroom Support:

Assist the Lead Educator in implementing developmentally appropriate activities and programs that promote children's growth and learning. Support the daily routines and transitions, including mealtime, naptime, toileting, and outdoor play. Engage actively with children, encouraging their participation, fostering their social skills, and providing individual attention and support. Collaborate with the Lead Educator to create a positive and inclusive environment that respects and embraces diversity.
2. Health, Safety, and Well-being:

Assist in ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of children by following health and safety policies and procedures. Help maintain a clean and organized learning environment, including regular cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing of materials and equipment. Monitor and address the health and safety needs of children, including administering first aid when necessary and promptly responding to any concerns or accidents.
3. Documentation and Communication:

Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, observations, and documentation of children's activities and development. Support the Lead Educator in preparing progress reports and sharing children's achievements and areas of growth with parents/guardians. Communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, and colleagues, fostering positive relationships and open lines of communication.
4. Classroom Management:

Help maintain a calm and organized classroom environment, promoting positive behavior and guiding children in developing self-regulation skills. Assist in implementing classroom rules and routines, ensuring consistent and fair expectations for behavior. Support the Lead Educator in managing challenging behaviors and resolving conflicts among children in a constructive manner.
5. Professional Development and Collaboration:

Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education. Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment. Engage in reflective practice and seek feedback from Lead Educator to support personal and professional growth. Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications:

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates pursuing education in Early Childhood Development would be preferred. Experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, families, and colleagues. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children. Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and maintain professionalism. First Aid and CPR certification (required before joining). Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required before joining). Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, College of Early Childhood Educators' Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and related regulations, guidelines and best practices.

There may be additional responsibilities related to establishing and growing the center, contributing towards development of policies and procedures, innovations, input in the overall program etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.60-$22.00 per hour
