The Assistant Director/ECE assists the daycare Director in administering the daily operations, staff management, and child and family engagement of Covenant Kids Christian Daycare. This role is hands on, helping ensure that the facility complies with licensing and other regulatory standards, delivers high-quality childcare, maintains effective staff management, and fosters a positive and supportive environment for children and families. The Assistant Director/ECE also provides childcare in the Infant/Toddler, 3 to 5 year or School-Age rooms where needed. Time in this position may be divided approximately equally between administrative and childcare functions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director/ECE assists the Daycare Director by applying management and administration skills in the following areas of responsibility:
1. Administrative and Operational Responsibilities
Maintain familiarity with all daycare policies and procedures;
Review and update policies and procedures as needed.
Maintain and update the parent handbook
Prepare newsletters.
Maintain staff time-card and sign-in sheets.
Maintain children sign-in sheets.
Maintain waitlist.
2. Responsibilities Regarding Staff
Assist in hiring, including interviewing and calling references.
Prepare and publish job postings.
Prepare job descriptions as necessary.
Assist in staff performance evaluations.
Maintain staff personnel records
Revise staff policy and procedures manual where needed.
Ensure staff licensing requirements are current.
3. Responsibilities Regarding Families
Conduct tours of the Daycare to prospective families, enrol children and familiarize parents with daycare policies when the director is unavailable.
Prepare enrolment packages.
Be friendly and welcoming.
Build relationships through positive communications and interactions with families.
Attend and help prepare special events.
Prepare newsletters when needed.
The Assistant Director/ECE assists the daycare Director by providing childcare when needed, as follows:
4. Responsibilities Regarding Children
Provide quality care and supervision to children throughout the day
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care
Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
Promote an inclusive environment that respects cultural diversity, individual abilities, and learning styles.
Be aware of the emotional needs of children in your care
Communicate and work well with the other members of the staff team
Implement strategies to support children with diverse needs, working closely with other educators, families, agencies, and specialists as necessary.
Adhere to all Child Care regulations
Qualifications
Valid ECE Certificate. IT or SN certification an asset.
Current Emergency Child Care First Aid Certification.
Clear Criminal Record Check.
Minimum three years of experience in early childhood education, including in leadership, supervisory and/or administrative roles. Management and other related courses an asset.
Strong understanding of BC Child Care Regulations
Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Publisher .
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $29.00-$31.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
