Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE



The Assistant Director of the DMin Program is a core faculty role responsible to support the DMin Director in all his/her responsibilities in the DMin program at Tyndale Seminary. This position involves teaching and administrative responsibilities in the DMin program, and participation in academic scholarship and research. This faculty member will teach three to six courses per year focusing on practical theology at the doctoral level. They will also maintain an active research agenda, contribute to theological scholarship, provide administrative leadership to the DMin program, and participate in seminary committees and community life. Networking within the academic and church communities is essential, as is involvement in a local congregation. This position is expected to start on February 1, 2026.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



Teaching, scholarship, and service comprise the three-fold responsibilities of all faculty members at Tyndale University. Workload distribution will be negotiated based on the qualifications of the candidate.

Service



Assist with maintaining and developing DMin policies and procedures Assist with curriculum and program development Assist with regular assessment of the DMin program (for both internal use and external reporting) Assist with admissions, marketing, alumni and other departments as necessary Review and develop DMin organizational systems to accommodate increased enrollment Co-ordinate and give leadership to DMin Concentrations or Tracks as necessary Assist in the development of new DMin tracks, concentrations, and focused cohorts
Help develop partnerships

Teaching



Teach 3-6 courses at the DMin and master's levels Develop new courses as necessary Support track leaders and faculty in student advising Support the DMin Director in monitoring student progress and addressing student crises Contribute to orienting new students and faculty to the program Attend DMin residencies as required Participate in DMin hearings

Scholarship



Maintain an active research agenda in an area relevant to applied ministry and practical theology, and contribute to theological scholarship in their area of expertise and interest.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS



Education



Minimum of a PhD or DMin in Practical Theology or a related field

Experience



Previous teaching and administrative experience required Ministry experience in diverse contexts required Experience in a non-profit and/or educational institution prefered Familiarity with intercultural competency and working with diverse people groups Experience with field research (research design, research ethics, data collection, data analysis, etc.) preferred Understanding of participatory action research, appreciative inquiry, or community-based research approaches preferred

Salary Range:




$67,000 - $71,000
