Assisting with the leading, coaching, organization and development of the supervisory committee and colleagues within the stewarding department. He/she will report to the Director of Stewarding with any problems, concerns, suggestions and/or comments. He/she will assist Director of Stewarding with hiring duties as well as scheduling of stewards.

  • Direct supervision of all stewarding employees, and supervisors as well as training, performance management, scheduling and assigning of daily duties and long term projects
  • Ensuring the highest quality of cleanliness and organization in all food service areas and service equipment
  • Schedule staff to ensures that all F&B areas are maintained in accordance with the sanitation standards
  • Follow all health and safety rules as outlined by the department and the hotel. Ensures that all food safety standards + processes are completed on a daily basis in his or her area of the department, this includes but isn\xe2\x80\x99t limited to filling out daily dishwasher | pot washer temperature logs.
  • Work closely with the outlet leaders to maintain adequate levels of china, silver, and glass par stock levels
  • Responsible for the completion and accuracy of payroll sheets
  • Organizes special functions and sets up function lists and dining room counts for stewards
  • Ensure a continuous flow of clean wares to all F&B outlets, including production areas to meet the demands of the business
  • Ensure that all colleagues are familiar with the current union agreement and act accordingly
  • Banquet needs are to be prepared and take necessary action to ensure continuous operation
  • Ensure all garbage is removed from the various work areas on a continuous basis to comply with existing health and fire codes
  • Schedule yourself according to business demands including day and evening shifts
  • Meet daily with the Banquet Chef, Banquet Managers and Catering Sales to update operational function
  • Organizes training of new staff through departmental orientations
  • Processes requests from kitchen, banquet, outlets and Food and Beverage office.
  • Delegates workload appropriately throughout department as it occurs or as directed by Director of Stewarding.
  • Reports any damaged or not working equipment to maintenance or proper contractor and follows up
  • Ensure a safe working environment in accordance with the legislation, hotel policies and best practice.
  • Understands the hotel recycling program policies and procedures and actively participates and encourages all staff to follow through
Qualifications
  • 2 year supervisory experience, particularly stewarding and 5 years hotel experience
  • Must be results oriented, very organized, highly motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Must have strong capacity to work with and motivate a young work force
  • Must be committed to and have a full understanding of the health and safety practices in the workplace
  • Must be certified in WHMIS
  • Must be able to manage and understand financials
  • Thorough mechanical/equipment maintenance knowledge an asset
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Email an asset
Physical Aspects of Position include but are not limited to the following:
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
