Candidates are currently invited to apply for the Full-Time position of Assistant Director of Nursing for our 51 bed Long Term Care

Nursing facility

that includes a

Residential Based Care Unit

. The Assistant Director Resident Care provides pivotal leadership in the day-to-day management of Nursing Services, as well as the design, implementation and evaluation of the clinical services portfolio to achieve operational goals of Miner's Memorial Manor. The Assistant Director of Nursing reports directly to the Director of Clinical Services and ultimately the Administrator. The ADON is the point person for the implementation of Resident Centered Care and Collaborative Practice to support the delivery of safe, effective and ethical care. Committed to reaching higher levels of quality service and evidenced based practice, the ADON engenders a culture of inquiry and creates process improvement tools to advance clinical practice. Through effective engagement strategies, the ADON builds support coalitions with multiple internal and external stakeholders including clinical staff, physicians, management team and executive leaders. The ADON provides leadership in 4 key areas: Resident Centered Care/Collaborative Practice, Education/Project Management, People Management and Financial Management.

As a member of the Management/Leadership team, the Acting Director of Nursing provides oversight of Nursing responsibilities to ensure a coordinated and collaborative approach to resident care. The essential functional areas of responsibility include the delivery of quality of life for every resident and their family by ensuring adherence to applicable standards of practice, delivery of resident centered care. Demonstrated by a excellent attendance record and personal resiliency. The ADON must exhibit effective project management skills and leadership qualities. They must continuously evaluate their own skill and upgrades personal competencies as required to continue to be effective in the role. The ADON accepts duties delegated by the DCS and/or the Administrator that are within their personal competency base.

Employment Variables



Miner's Memorial Manor is a twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week operation. The position falls within the scope of management and offers flexible hours, at the approval of the DCS to facilitate the work associated with the role.

Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:



Plans, organizes, directs and supervises the activities of the Nursing Department.

Experience in workforce management/scheduling.

Evaluate staffing needs to determine appropriate levels of staff.

Manages all aspects of HR including hiring, disciplining, orientating and completing staff assessments.

Responsible for attendance management.

Knowledge of Momentum RAI Assessments and Care Planning an asset

Proficient in the use of Pathways and Microsoft systems.

Ensure that programs related to risk management are established. Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control, Wound Care, and OH&S.

Policy development and review within the Nursing Department.

Applies corporate management policies, interprets collective agreements and responds to grievances as required.

Conflict resolution experience.

Experience in tracking, trending, and analysis of clinical performance data.

Experience in quality and clinical process improvement risk assessment preferred.

Experience in staff development, training, and/or clinical education.

Proven ability to handle multiple priorities, organize efficiently, and manage time effectively.

Demonstrated critical thinking, clinical judgement, and decision-making skills.

Must be available on call to the RNs.

Monitor adherence to all applicable legislation and regulations.

Qualifications



BSCN or equivalent of education and experience.

Member in good standing with the NSCN.

Minimum of 3 years (preferred) work experience in a long-term care setting.

Minimum of 3 years (preferred) work experience in a management role.

Excellent communication, interprofessional skills.
