Position Summary
As a member of our senior management team, the Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) will influence how services are delivered, apply their nursing skills to the fullest, and truly make a difference in the lives of our residents. Reporting to the Director of Care (DOC), the ADOC will help coordinate the delivery of all health-related services to residents while providing leadership and clinical support to the Care Department.
Key Responsibilities
Share leadership responsibilities of the Care Department with the DOC, organizing and supervising staff in the provision of care, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and providing excellent customer service to residents and families
Assist in resident assessments, Plan of Care development, and monitoring of care delivery for all health-related services to residents, including care staff, in-house physicians, and third-party service providers
Provide coaching, training, scheduling, and performance monitoring for care staff
Ensure infection prevention and control practices are followed, and that quality assurance activities are completed routinely
Provide hands-on clinical care and support to residents and staff as needed
Foster positive relationships within the department, across the Home, and with external partners such as physicians and service providers
Act in the capacity of the Director of Care in their absence
Qualifications
Current RN or RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
2-3 years of experience in a long-term care or retirement setting preferred
Previous supervisory or leadership experience considered an asset
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Demonstrated sound judgment, composure, and problem-solving abilities
Availability to respond to on-call and emergency needs outside of regular working hours
